Channel trailer relay
Unaccompanied trailer delivery across the UK
Your trailer crosses Calais to Dover on its own. Our UK driver collects it, delivers it to your customer on time and brings it back to Dover for your next run.
- Collected at Dover
- Time-definite delivery
- Returned to Dover
- 24/7 ops desk
How the relay works
You load in Europe
Your driver takes the trailer to Calais and drops it for the unaccompanied crossing.
Paperwork ready
You or we book the ferry, the GMR and transit documents are checked before sailing.
We collect at Dover
A fresh UK driver collects the trailer, checks the seal and sends photos within the hour.
Delivered and returned
Delivered on the agreed slot with a signed POD, then brought back to Dover.
Why European hauliers use it
Sending your own driver into the UK costs a day or more for a single drop: a long crossing, UK traffic, unfamiliar delivery sites and often an empty run back. With the relay, your truck turns around at Calais and goes straight back to European work.
- Simpler: we know UK delivery sites, booking portals, Clean Air Zones and Dover port procedures.
- Cheaper: no UK round trip, no second driver, no UK overnight, no empty miles home.
- Faster: a fresh UK driver from Dover means no daily rest stop on the way to your customer.
- Secure: TAPA TSR 2 compliant, fully insured, planned secure stops and 24/7 monitoring.
Trailers come to us from across Europe, many from Italy, Germany, Spain, France and the Netherlands.

Questions hauliers ask
What is an unaccompanied trailer relay?
Your trailer crosses the Channel on its own, without your truck or driver. We collect it at Dover with a UK driver, deliver it to your customer on the agreed slot and bring it back to Dover for the return sailing. Your truck and driver stay in Europe and keep earning.
Why is it cheaper than sending my own driver?
Your driver does not lose a day or more on the UK round trip, there is no second driver, no UK overnight and no empty run back to the port. You pay for the UK leg only, and your truck stays on European work.
Why is it faster?
A long-distance driver often runs out of driving hours near the Channel and has to take a daily rest. A fresh UK driver collects the trailer at Dover and drives straight to the delivery, so the load usually arrives hours sooner.
Where in the UK do you deliver?
Anywhere in Great Britain. London and the South East are a few hours from Dover, Midlands distribution centres are one shift, and for Scotland or other long runs we change drivers on the way so the trailer keeps moving.
Do you return the trailer to Dover?
Yes. After delivery we bring your trailer back to Dover, empty or with a return load if you have one, ready for the sailing you choose.
