Questions and answers

Straight answers on the UK leg

Everything European hauliers ask us before handing over their UK deliveries. Can't find yours? Call the ops desk, 24/7.

The relay

What is an unaccompanied trailer relay?

Your trailer crosses the Channel on its own, without your truck or driver. We collect it at Dover with a UK driver, deliver it to your customer on the agreed slot and bring it back to Dover for the return sailing. Your truck and driver stay in Europe and keep earning.

Who is the service for?

European hauliers and forwarders moving full trailers into the UK, often from Italy, Germany, Spain, France and the Netherlands, who want a reliable UK partner instead of sending their own driver across.

Why is it cheaper than sending my own driver?

Your driver does not lose a day or more on the UK round trip, there is no second driver, no UK overnight and no empty run back to the port. You pay for the UK leg only, and your truck stays on European work.

Why is it faster?

A long-distance driver often runs out of driving hours near the Channel and has to take a daily rest. A fresh UK driver collects the trailer at Dover and drives straight to the delivery, so the load usually arrives hours sooner.

Where in the UK do you deliver?

Anywhere in Great Britain. London and the South East are a few hours from Dover, Midlands distribution centres are one shift, and for Scotland or other long runs we change drivers on the way so the trailer keeps moving.

Do you return the trailer to Dover?

Yes. After delivery we bring your trailer back to Dover, empty or with a return load if you have one, ready for the sailing you choose.

Customs and ferries

Do I need a GMR for an unaccompanied trailer?

Goods entering Great Britain through Dover need a Goods Movement Reference (GMR) from HMRC's Goods Vehicle Movement Service. For unaccompanied trailers it is normally created by whoever arranges the crossing. We can create and manage the GMR for you, or check yours before the trailer sails.

Can you handle transit documents and UK import customs?

Yes. We are very experienced with transit documents and GMRs, and we work with customs agents for import declarations, so the trailer is cleared without delays at Dover. Tell us what you already have and we will cover the rest.

Who books the ferry?

Either you or us. Many hauliers keep their own ferry contracts and simply send us the booking. If you prefer, we book the Calais–Dover crossing and the return for you.

Security and service

Are you TAPA certified?

We are TAPA TSR 2 compliant: our trucks, drivers and processes follow the TAPA Trucking Security Requirements at level 2, with planned secure stops, seal checks and 24/7 monitoring.

Is my load insured while you have it?

Yes. We are fully insured for the UK leg, and our terms of carriage set out the cover and liability. Ask us for a copy of the certificate with your quote.

How will I know where my trailer is?

Our ops desk sends updates at each step: collection photos with the seal number within an hour of pick-up, ETA updates on the road, and a signed POD within two hours of delivery.

Can you book the delivery slot with my customer?

Yes, as an optional extra. We manage the final delivery slot, call the site and keep your customer updated, so you do not have to deal with UK booking portals yourself.

What languages do you speak?

Our ops desk works in English and Polish, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
